Additional Notes:
Snack tonight came from Troop Supply. Meeting went as planned. Most of the girls identified correctly that our Mystery Birds were Cliff Swallows. All girls received a box of butterfly/hummingbird flower seeds. Girls that attended the Home Depot field trip received their Home Depot aprons. Atalli turned in a completed "Puppets, Dolls, and Plays" Try It Worksheet. Brigid received the patches she was due from the Investiture Ceremony, in addition to her "On Time" patch for registering before October 1st. (Those patches take FOREVER to come in!) Troop briefly discussed the upcoming field trip to McKinney Roughs Nature Park for the Earth Day Festival , and the Volunteers Party in honor of Leaders Day.

After the meeting, the girls played in the grassy area outside. Jacky (Mikayla's grampa/ the church's youth minister) pointed out a few birds' nests built on the sides of the church. Due to this week's bird research, we quickly identified them as Barn Swallow nests.Leader's Day Links

Original Post:
Back to the church for our regular Monday night meetings!
It' April- the weather's warm, everything's turning green again, and Earth Day is just a few weeks away.
This month we will focus on Mother Nature.
At today's meeting, we'll read a lesson from our handbook about our community and our environment. We'll talk about the weather and girls will receive a Take Home Assignment sheet for interviewing neighbors and tracking the weather for the week. We will also play a game as part of our Outdoor Adventurer Try It.
All girls that can properly identify the birds (featured in the Assignment for the Week column on the left) will receive a surprise.
I made a mistake on the Zilker post. Click here to review it.
Note about upcoming events:
We will be attending the Earth Day Festival at McKinney Roughs Nature Park: Saturday April 17 (time to be determined later.) All children that complete the park's Passport to Nature challenge will receive a patch. This event is open to Tag-a-Longs.Earth Day is Thursday April 22- which also happens to be Girl Scout Leader's Day (but we do not meet on Thursdays.) We will, however, be having a Volunteers' Thank You Party at our Monday 4/19 meeting, in honor of Leader's Day.
