Girl Scout Camps vary in length and price ($35-$350.) We can attend as a Troop, or as individuals.
Girl Scout Camps include:
Scout-A-Rama a free annual over night camp sponsored by the Marble Falls Noon Lions Club. Typically in October.
Day Camps (a few hours a day for a week)
Twilight Camp (day camp that takes places at dusk)
EDGE Camps (focus on earning badges)
Resident Camps (sleep away, 2-5 days, activities available)
Primitive Camps (basic camping)

Day camp, Twilight camp, and Edge camp fees can be waived if a parent volunteers at one of those camps.  Financial assistance is available for all Girl Scout camps.

There are several over night camping options for us:
troop: plan a camp-out, separately from Girl Scout Camp (State Park, local lakes)
troop: rent a housing facility (cabin, tent platform, etc.) at one of the Girl Scout Camps, plan our own activities
troop: sign up for a themed resident Girl Scout Camp, activities included
individual: sign up for a themed resident Girl Scout Camp, activities included

Primitive Camps
Camp Dixie Allison- in Menard
Camp Howdy- in Bryan
Camp Happy Hollow- in the Burton/Brenham area (Not owned by GS, but available for GS use.)

Resident Girl Scout Camps
Each camp offers an open house. Open house is not mandatory. Resident Camp packages come in a variety of themes (fairies, horses, art, animals, cooking, etc.)
Camp Kachina- a Native American themed camp in Belton.
CampTexlake- a combination of rustic and modern camping in Spicewood.
Camp Wood Lake- a rustic, waterfront camp in Brownwood. Camp Woodlake offers Troop Camping, as well as Mother-Daughter Camping. Camp Woodlake is the only camp with a Transportation Option- the fee is $50 and includes pick up and drop off from the Kodosky Program Center, plus meal/snack while traveling.

Spaces for all camps fill up quickly. It is important to plan ahead and register in a timely manner.

The Troop Camping Experience:
_______________________________________

In addition to the camping experiences below, I plan for us to have a troop cook out, learn about local wildlife, go hiking, and participate in a Leave No Trace event. We will also work on camp-related patches. I know the girls will have a wonderful time- I'm really excited and looking forward to our adventures in the great outdoors. As they say: Keep the OUTING in SCOUTING!
