Boy and Girl Scouts marching in the parade will be near the "star" mothers float. Blue star mothers have children currently serving in the military. Red star mothers have recently lost a child serving in the military. Our girls will be on foot, carrying our troop banner, and possibly little American flags. They can also hand out candy- not throw it. (Liability issues.) Girls will stay with their troop will in the parade.
The Frontier Days Celebration takes place in Old Settler's Park, also in Round Rock. The festival begins at noon- after the parade, and includes a cowboy sing-along, stunt man spectacular, a pepper eating contest, ballet folklorico performance, rubber duck race, free watermelon, a skydiver, live music by the Austin Symphonic Band, and showings of Iron Man 2 and Despicable Me. If you want to register for the pepper eating contest, go here and look for the link.
Regardless of our turnout this year, Will Williams- the head of parade management- has asked us to be in the 2012 parade. With this much advance notice we can build a float!
