Our main focus today was Composing Poetry. 

As a troop we made up a few poems with a rhyme scheme of "ABABAB," and then made two cinquains.  Here are their cinquains:

pretty, beautiful

jumping, leaping, eating

makes me so happy

booger

sticky, gross

picking, sticking, licking

we are grossed out

snot

Assignment for the Week:

At home, girls need to make a list of Happy Memories. She will need to pick her favorite by the next meeting. She also needs to whittle down her decision on which performance art she'll be comfortable with. Some possibilities include: singing, dancing, reciting a poem, performing a one girl play or puppet show, etc. The only rules are that she has to compose and perform it herself. She can also use costumes and props if she chooses. The Best Memory Performance will be at our August Court of Awards.

Reminders:

• We need snacks and drinks for meetings.
• Field Trip this Saturday. More details here. 
• The girls have been working overtime on their patches. Great job, ladies! Our August Court of Awards will be a mouth full. Keep up the good work and get all completed Badge Worksheets turned in by the August 9th meeting.
• The Troop Sleepover will be one of the August weekends prior to school starting. The date will be announced soon.

Original Post:

At this meeting we'll be working on our Creative Composing Try It (pg. 152.)
We'll work on poetry, secret messages, begin work on drawing/painting, and everyone will share their individual ideas for their "Best Memory" Performance. Remember that the performance can be dance, song, poetry, a one-girl play, mime, etc. but she should be comfortable performing solo in whatever art form she chooses. The performance will be at our next Court of Awards, mid-to-late August.

Girls should wear their vests and bring their GS bags to every meeting. The bag needs to have her GS books and her badge binder to track her achievements. Parents can always sign off on troop activities (if a girl forgets her binder) by looking up the post for the day in question.
