We made paper beads for a necklace as a Thank You gift for next week's special guest. It was Naya's birthday today- she brought ice cream cake for snack.Original Post:
I will do my best to be there at 5:45 each week to set the A/C and get things arranged. Girls are welcome to arrive early.
Girls should check the Kaper Chart when they arrive to see who has been assigned a job this week. Moms can take this time to volunteer for one of the 3 Mom Kapers (Room Helper being the most important.) You can contact me ahead of time, or just stick your name in a pocket when you get there.
When the girls arrive they will do our Start Up activity- writing in their Girl Scout Journals. Next we will move on to our Opening- saying the GS Promise and Law. Next, we'll move on to Business- discussing upcoming events like this week's trip to the Dell Diamond, and next week's visit from a paramedic so we can work on our First Aid patch. After Business we will have an Activity, then Clean Up and finally, Close with our Friendship Circle and Outside Play. Prior to leaving with your child, parents should seek out the Troop Leaders to learn new information and to let us know you are taking your child. This will be our new weekly routine.
The girls are now Juniors. They will be more involved with the Business aspect of running our troop and can be more focused on their Activities. The girls build self confidence and teamwork skills through the structured part of the meeting. Interactive outside play is also important for their interpersonal relationships. With the new routine in place, things will run smoother, the building will be clean, the girls will build stronger friendships, and your child will always be packed up, and ready to leave on time.
We have the Community Center reserved every Monday from 6-7:30. I would like to extend our meetings to fill that time. (Not today, though.) I believe play time is important for team building within our troop and would like each girl to participate. I would like to include it as part of the meeting time each week. With higher expectations set for meetings, and a new routine in place, my plan is to have everyone (including myself) out the door and ready to leave by 7:30. I'd like to hear your opinion. Please let me know what you think.
Thanks!
